There are many methods which you can use to download Youtube videos is Ubuntu Linux. There are some softwares which let you download youtube videos in Ubuntu Linux.
The first one is the Utubu Ripper which is written in Gambas that works exclusively on Linux. It’s useful to download and convert Youtube videos in a simple and efficient way. So just download it and install it by adding this repository:
deb http://azores.linex.org/gambas-other/ yourubuntudistro main
Then you need to install Gambas through your package manager or terminal. After that, you can download the DEB, binary, or source code for Utube Ripper. Once its installed, just enter the url of that video and it will automatically download and save the video in your computer.
Other than that you can use youtube-dl which is a small command line program that you can use to download videos from Youtube. To install type this in the terminal:
sudo aptitude install youtube-dl
Once its installed, it is really easy to download videos from youtube. Use youtube-dl followed by the url of the video. For example :
youtube-dl “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cISUzaa5v8o”
If you are a firefox user, then you can use this Video DownloadHelper which can help you download videos from Youtube and many other sites. Apart from that, there are many other sites which you can use to download videos from youtube like KeepVid.
Now coming to the easiest way to download videos from Youtube.First of all find the video you want to download and wait for the streaming to finish. Now minimize your browser but dont close it and navigate to the directory /tmp. Drag the flash file on to your desktop and you are done.
