10 Best Alternatives For Windows Media Player

I used to use Windows media player back in the days when there wasn’t a proper option, maybe there was but I didn’t knew about it. It’s a good piece of software (WMP11 for example) but still, I have my alternatives. I don’t remember the last time using WMP – since VLC came.

If you want to use something else beside WMP, which is rather better and you can work more easily on, check out this list. I’ve compiled a list of 10 of the Best alternatives media players for windows that you can download and try to see which one suits you the best.

1- VLC Player

VLC

I would personally rate VLC Player to be the best of all the other media softwares. I don’t remember, facing a Codec problem while playing almost any kind of extension with it. It’s a highly recommended media player which plays lots of audio and video formats and be used for streaming protocols.

I use Jetaudio, I have found that all around its the best. It plays everything, isn’t buggy. I use it for both audio and video. Although I like divx it dosnt have the features I like. I may change if one of the other players are better but I don’t know why Jet is not on your list.

In term of speed and resource consume, the fastest and least resource-demanding video player is SwiftPlayer(http://www.swiftplayer.ffmpegbox.com), you should really try it. It is by far the fastest and least resource-demanding one and can play nearly(maybe exactly) any file formats.

    I downloaded ffmpegbox’s SwiftPlayer,
    really good!
I try to play some HD 1080P high resolution videos using my laptop(1.60 GHz CPU, 512 MB Memory, Windows XP), no video player other than SwiftPlayer can do the job!

For five years plus I used nothing but VLC. My laptop is a 1.7GHz AMD 64 AthlonX2 with 2GB RAM. It could run a 720p H.264 video for about five minutes before coming desynced and glitchy.

I figured it was due to a buildup of temperature but nothing I did seemed to help. It turns out it was actually a problem releasing memory. The only video player that properly implements garbage cleanup is–Windows Media Player.

Surprised me too, but if you install CoreCodec (I got a fully activated copy from a warez site before I eventually bought a genuine license), WMP 12 can be the most powerful video player out there (and I’ve tried them all–64 bit versions included– every build of MPC, VLC, MPlayer, KMPlayerm etc). You do have to Google how to make subtitles work, but once you’ve done that, Bob’s your uncle.
