Proxy server for internet sharing
Sometimes a problem arises when you are sharing internet on windows Vista / XP Computers that you’re not able to connect to internet but you can share your local files easily. You can go through trouble shooting and what not and it doesn’t help either (Happened to me in the past), that’s when proxy servers applications come in handy.
I’ve been using Proxy Server CCProxy for a while to share internet between computers, it’s easy and very efficient. Here’s how it works.
1- Download the CCProxy and install it.
2- Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
3- Click View Status on your LAN card settings.
4- Click on Properties and select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4)

5- Click Properties and at IP Address, Type 192.168.1.101 and press TAB, it will automatically put the Subnet Mask which is 255.255.255.0

6- Click OK to exit.
7- Now, make sure that you are running CCProxy on the computer which is connected to the internet.
8- At the clients machine, please open IE menu “Tools”, go to “Internet Options” -> “Connections” -> “LAN settings”, select “proxy server”, input the proxy server IP address in the “Address”, 808 in the “Port”. Select “local address bypass proxy”. IE proxy setup is finished and we can access websites via the proxy now.
And this will do the job.
Also make sure of couple of things.
A- In Firefox, do the same settings, go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Network and set the same settings by selecing Manual HTTP Proxy Configuration.
B- Make sure that both computer’s workgroup name is the same.
I hope this help.
