Google has just launched iGoogle chat for U.S visitors.  The service is currently available in English but other iGoogle supported languages and countries are planned to be introduced soon as well. If you’re familiar with the Gmail chat interface where people can send instant messages right from the inbox, iGoogle chat works exactly like that.

If you already own a Gmail account,  all your current chat settings will transferred to iGoogle. This way you will be able to work the way you like in both places.

You will also be able to chat with friends who don’t yet have a Gmail address. All you have to do is invite them as a chat buddy and if they accept your invitation and register for an iGoogle account with their personal email id, they will become just a click away from you.

If you don’t feel like chatting with them or you don’t want anyone to disturb you while you’re at work, you can always hide your chat window or completely sign out of chat.

If you don’t see iGoogle chat on your page, feel free to check  it out by visiting www.google.com/ig/v2invite.
