KidSwirl – Facebook for Kids

Facebook, as we know is one of the best sources for connecting with family and friends. Though, it’s not fully safe if your kid has an account (various reasons) but KidSwirl is. It the first ULTRA SAFE social networking site for KIDS! The site has been built from the ground up using a familiar layout (similar to Facebook) which makes it easy for parents to help their kids move about the site. You can either sign-up as a parent or a kid.

The number one priority of the site is KID SAFETY! As a result, they have blocked all bad language, inappropriate and suggestive phrases, and any other word usage that is requested by the parents and users. They are also preparing to launch a PARENT CONTROL PANEL that will give parents 100% control over what their child can see, do, participate in, and even who they can accept as their friends! This is the first site of its kind where parents can finally feel safe and allow their kids to interact with other kids online.

The parent panel will be secured by a password that is set up by the parent so that the child cannot make any changes without parent approval. One of the main features of CONTROL will be that parents will need to approve every friend request that comes through on the child’s account. This will give parents the ability to “pre-screen” all friends that their child is interacting with. They will also have the ability to add any level of privacy to their child’s account – so that they can be as anonymous as they would like to be.

It’s, I believe, the only site where kids can finally feel free to interact online in a 100% safe environment. KidSwirl’s admin, Karl, promotes kids by sending them gifts, holding competitions and much more.

This will become the new platform that allows kids to interact with other kids in a 100% SAFE ENVIRONMENT online! This is what every parent has been waiting years to see and it is finally here!

  2. What a great idea, except if the kids feel parents are breathing down their neck too much or parents end up spending too much time monitoring…

I think lots of young kids will finally get to be online this way, which is exciting for them, but not too good. Personally, I prefer my kids to be outside and play with their friends.

Either way, MoiN, thanks for letting us know.

Are you actually advertising 1 or 2 kids sites as there is a facebookforkids as well as kidswirl. My kids are on the facebookforkids and it looks pretty safe there as well. They have a monitored chat room which my kids love. There are no links to outside websites. I think it is a very good site.

The article reads: “The parent panel will be secured by a password that is set up by the parent so that the child cannot make any changes without parent approval. ”

However, there is no such feature that i could find and this site has several other features that make me feel uncomfortable as a parent:

    1. The real names of kids who are online appear on EVERYONE’S profile page.

    2. Kids have to sign up with first and last names (why this is necessary since each person also has a profile name i don’t know) but adults only have to list their first names. Seems like a strange thing to me.
