How to play Street Fighter 3 on your PC (Emulated)
Stumble it!Did you love the retro version of all those arcade games? if you did, you must’ve liked Street Fighter.. I’ve been a big fan of that game, we usually play it over at my place with friends coming over (still) and we have a great time. You can play Street fighter on your computer (older versions, champion edition etc) using Mame32 emulator etc easily (I’ll cover those soon) but Street Fighter 3 doesn’t work on that. NeoRage doesn’t support it either so lets take a look at something that does.
It’s called the “CPS3 Emulator” (Capcom Play System 3). It’s a simple emulator designed for very specific games which are
- JoJo Bizarre Adventure (3 Parts)
- Street Fighter 3 (4 Parts)
- Warzard / Red Earth
I’m not sure if there are any more games for this emulator but I’m assuming there aren’t. Anyway, let me show you a simple guide on how to play Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the future on your pc.
A- Download the CPS3 Emulator (Here)
B- Unzip it in a specific folder, let’s call it CPS3 (for example).
C- After you’re done installing, create couple of folders, in CPS3 folder (where you unzipped the game). Name the first one “CHD” and second folder “ROMS“.
D- Then you need to download 2 files. First file is called “33s000.chd” – it’s on 64.71 MB and you can download it here. After downloading this one, copy it in the “CHD” folder that you just created. Now download the second file called “sf33usa.bin” (From here – download link #2) – it’s a small file, 512.00 KB only. Create a folder named “sfiii3″ in the “ROMS” folder and copy “sf33usa.bin” there. It should look like CPS3\ROMS\sfiii3\sf33usa.bin.
E- When you’re done, run the CPS3 Emulator, double click the “emulator.exe” file and you’ll see a small screen. (like this one)
F- Click on Emulator > Load Rom
G- Double click “Street Fighter III 3rd Strike – Fight for the Future (CHD)” and it will run the game in the same window. If you want to play it in full screen, just click Video > Switch to Full Screen.
And that’s it. Have fun playing Street fighter III on your PC 
– Love the game personally.
Doesn’t work for me. Unable to load sf33usa.bin. Any idea?
Neosix, can you explain a bit? where did you copy that file? and which game are you running because the emulator shows 16 games. If the files are in the right directory, all you need to do is run the emulator and select “Street Fighter III 3rd Strike – Fight for the Future (CHD)” ..
Do give me more info if you’re still having trouble.
i have the same problem as neosix, i copy the files into the folders (ROMS and CHD). the i click load game and says that it is unable to load sf33usa.bin. im trying to play street fighter 3
Okay, I think I found a small glitch here
Make a new folder called “sfiii3″ in the ROM folder and copy the sf33usa.bin there.
run the emulator and select “Street Fighter III 3rd Strike – Fight for the Future (CHD)” under “Emulator > Load Rom”
This will do the job.

thanks for this. can i install a joystick or controller for this?? im using my laptop, is there a way we can put controllers on it instead of using keyboard?
@robbmanstah: Yes, you can. Just plug in a controller and you’ll be able to play.
I put all the files in roms and CHD and when I try to load Street Fighter III 3rd Strike – Fight for the Future it’s says : Unable to load sf33usa.bin and i created the sfiii3 folder ..can you help me??

i find the problem.when you copy the files in CHD and ROMS you must copy the files directly in there….and its really works
Erm, just wondering, is it possible to sync a ps3 controller into this emulator like mugen?
I’m not sure about the PS3 one but I did play this using other usb based constrollers. You can try though, I think it’ll work fine.

Okay, it works so far…but it says “insert 2 coins”.
I pressed every button and i can’t get passed the demo screens
Both download links are no longer valid. I got the emulator without trouble, but the other 2 links are dead. Preeze halp!
Run a search for the filenames on Google.
Press 5 to add coins and 1 to start.
