Used Opera, Flock etc as well but because of the add-ons firefox had to offer, It didn’t last long. Chrome lacked that part as well but now with Chrome Extensions, my internet life is way better. Presenting a list of 20 of the best extensions Chrome has to offer (right now) and I hope you like these.
Tip: You can manage your google chrome extensions easily by clicking “Customize and Control Google Chrome” button > Extensions.

In certain cases finding out the origin of the website you are currently viewing can be very helpful. An example of this can be a new online shopping website you come across; before making any purchases it would be wise to check if the site’s claimed origin and true origin are the same. Depending on this and other pieces of information of the shopping website, you can reach a better decision on whether or not to trust the website.
Finding out the true origin of a website can be done somewhat accurately by finding out its WHOIS information. This information reveals details of the registration details of the website we are viewing. Registration details include the registrar holding that domain, and the name servers and IP assigned to it. The WHOIS information is also useful for troubleshooting various issues regarding DNS and Domain propagation.
While a number of websites exist where you can enter the URL of a site and obtain its WHOIS information, you might find a desktop application to be more convenient.
One such desktop application that displays the WHOIS information of a website is WhoisLookup.

WhoisLookup is an application less than 100KB to download. Installation is not required as the downloaded EXE file is itself the application. The image above is how the application looks like. In the URL entry field in the top left we enter the domain name without the “http://www.” portion. Then we click on the LOOKUP/SEARCH button for to obtain the site’s WHOIS information.
A preview of the site is shown in an area to the right; we can also see the HISTORY which shows us the websites we have been entering in the URL bar in the current session.
WhoisLookup is a tiny but useful tool which will be useful for website troubleshooters.
Are you wondering where you disk space has gone? Just the other day your system was running fine but now you are constantly being bothered by Windows to free up space. You have already run various cleaners (including antivirus programs, as well as spyware and malware removers) but they are not having a commendable effect; you are still clueless as to what has occupied your storage.
Obviously you want answers. But you cannot possibly start going through your drives and exploring each folder one by one. To get the answers you need, only one freeware program can be used. It is small and fast and it is called DriveSpacio.
The application has a download size of less than 1MB. So small yet it provides great functionality. Compatible with Windows XP and Vista operating systems, it might also run on Windows 7 (although we have not tested DriveSpacio on 7 yet).
So what exactly does DriveSpacio do and how does it help us determine where our disk space is being utilized? When you open the program, it quickly detects all storage devices connected to your system and collect their general data which tell you how much space is used and free.

A thorough breakdown of the major space occupying folders will be presented:

Prior to purchasing music many of us sample it on popular music audio and video streaming sites. Dizzler is one of these great streaming websites. All it requires you to do is register for a free account on the site. Once that it is done, you can start listening to music (or watching videos) from Dizzler’s huge music library.

You can enjoy the site either by searching for keywords or by browsing from the artists or genres databases.
The main features of this streaming website are that it lets you see the top music searches, videos, and songs. You can even see the profiles of other Dizzler members and check out their playlists to see what they are listening to.
When combined, all those features make up a great streaming site however they do not set Dizzler apart from other similar sites. What does set Dizzler apart is its downloadable online media player. You can find the Download link on top of your Dizzler page. The Dizzler Media Player (DMP) is sized at 3.5MB and installs without any glitches. With this desktop application installed you no longer need to open your browser to stream music. Here is how the player looks like:

Click on the Music tab to the right, enter your band in the search bar, and click on search or press Enter. The results will be gathered and shown:

Researching the internet might have brought you to a point where you needed to compare two webpages side by side. Such juxtaposition can only be done if you use multiple browser windows and view the similarities (or differences) of the websites.
Recently there have emerged websites which ask you to type in multiple URLs; you are then able to view those pages split in the same window. However this takes slightly longer because you first spend time on opening the individual websites, then you open this page-splitting site, then you copy in the URLs, and then the site opens these pages.
The most time-efficient method to place webpages adjacently is to use the Firefox add-on SplitBrowser. When Firefox users equip their browser with this great add-on they are able to split webpages to any area in their current window. Suppose we are viewing Google’s search results for the word “tables”. To split the page, all you have to do is right-click anywhere in the visible page area and choose which direction you want the page to move to:

The webpage will be copied into an area you choose. Here is what the abovementioned search results page looked like when we chose the ‘Below’ option from SplitBrowser’s menu:

The new window’s area can be easily adjusted using your mouse pointer to resize it. You can now use the address bar to access a new page on the top area. To access a new page in the bottom area, hover your mouse pointer in the tab above it and its respective address bar will appear.

There are many note-taking programs and tools available on the net. But if you are working within your browser, it might become a little inconvenient to switch windows every time you need to note down something. To reduce the time Firefox users spend on taking notes, we have a wonderful add-on available – QuickFox Notes.
Once you have downloaded this add-on, right-click on a blank space in the main menu toolbar in Firefox and click on Customize. Then locate and drag the add-on’s icon somewhere into the bookmarks toolbar:

When you left-click on this icon, a new note-taking window will open. If you want the QiuckFox window to open in a new tab (rather than a completely new window) simply middle-click on the add-on’s icon.

If you are looking for a simple way to insert graphs and charts into you website, then look no further. Highcharts is the only place you need to go to incorporate charts into your blog or site. Highcharts lets you create interactive JavaScript charts for your websites.

The charting library is written purely in JavaScript; the site currently supports line, spline, area, areaspline, column, bar, pie and scatter chart types.
For one site, Highcharts packs a lot of feature within itself.
- Compatibility: “Highcharts works in all modern browsers including the iPhone and Internet Explorer from version 6. Standard browsers use the Canvas element and in some cases SVG for the graphics rendering. In Internet Explorer graphics are drawn using VML.”
- Pure JavaScript: “Highcharts is solely based on native browser technologies and doesn’t require client side plugins like Flash or Java. Furthermore you don’t need to install anything on your server. No PHP or ASP.NET. Highcharts needs three JS files to run: The highcharts.js core, a canvas emulator for IE, and either the jQuery or the MooTools framework.”
- Configuration Syntax: The syntax used requires no special programming knowledge. “The options are given in a JavaScript object notation structure, which is basically a set of keys and values connected by colons, separated by commas and grouped by curly brackets.”
The graph features include:
- Tooltip labels: On the mouse pointer hovering over the chart, Highcharts can display a tooltip text with information on each point and series.
- Date-time axis: “Highchart is very intelligent about time values. With milliseconds axis units, Highchart determines where to place the ticks so that they always mark the start of the month or the week, midnight and midday, the full hour etc.”
- Zooming: You can even zoom in to your graphs in the X, Y, or both dimensions.
Highcharts includes a lot more features than the ones mentioned above. What is even great is that it is free for noncommercial use! For a personal website, a school site or a non-profit organization, you can use the tool free of charge.
Go over to the site and adjust the simple syntax to create graphs you require.

If you do not know what screencasts are, they are a recording of what happens on your computer screen. They usually serve as demos or guides for to let the audience know exactly how a particular computer process functions. Nowadays screencasts are accompanied by the audio from a developer or site creator, who talks you through the process while showing it all to you. Creating such screencasts is not easy if you do not entirely know what you are doing. The internet currently has quite a number of programs available that let you record your screen but none of them are as simple as the one we will be exploring today – Capture Fox.
Capture Fox is a free add-on for the Firefox browser that lets you record either your whole screen or just the webpage currently open in Firefox. Despite its minuscule size, the add-on provides amazing functionality. Before you start the actual recording, it would be best to select access the add-on’s options in the Tools menu of Firefox:

By default the Basic Settings tab is opened. Here you will select whether to record the entire screen or just the Firefox Window. You can select video quality from Low, Moderate, and High. FPS (frame per second) can also be selected from 1-5 fps. If your screencast does not require any audio, you leave the Voice Recording checkbox unchecked, keeping the size of your resultant recording low. It is also in this tab that you select the output folder of the video.

I love watching movies, since my backup hard drives have run out of space, I’ve started burning these on DVD’s. Most of my friends ask me which software to use, how to convert it? and vice versa. Well, I usually recommend them ConvertXToDVD. It’s a simple but useful software that lets you convert your movies into DVD’s. Here’s how you do it.
1- Download the software (link) and install it.
2- After installing, run it and you’ll see a simple interface. Press the green + button
to add movies.

3- When you’re done adding movies, just click Convert. It will start converting the movies. It also shows a small preview on the right side where you can actually see the movie being converted in a fast forward version of course. When the conversion is done, insert a blank DVD and you’re good to go.
Remember, if you’re using the trail version it will embed a watermark in the middle of the picture. You won’t want that so I suggest buying the full version to enjoy high quality DVD’s on your home theater.
