How to Downgrade your iPhone 2.0 to 1.14

Posted by MoiN 20 July, 2008 (4) Comment

This is a great guide on how to downgrade your iPhone from 2.0 to 1.1.4. Here’s a step by step guide written by _X_ for anyone whose looking to downgrade from 2.0 to 1.14!

Requirements:

iTunes 7.5 (You don’t need iTunes 7.7 for this)
iLiberty+Windows / Mac Version
iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw firmware
KiPhone Windows / Mac (Patched version of ZiPhone)

Step 1:

Uninstall iTunes 7.7 if you have it and restart your computer

Step 2:

Install iTunes 7.5, iLiberty+ & KiPhone. Make sure only iTunes is running.

Step 3:

Your iPhone should be in 2 states, either stuck on the “Slide to make emergency calls” screen, or you tried to restore before and it’s stuck on the new look “connect to iTunes” screen. Either way, it’s fine.

Enter the phone in DFU mode (You must have the iPhone connected to the computer and iTunes running). To do this, hold the power & the home button down for 9 seconds.

Why 9? Well people say 10, but it depends how slow you are at counting. Too short and it doesn’t work, too long and the apple logo appears.

When you hit about 6/7 the screen should turn off, leave it for 2 more seconds and release the power button, STILL holding the home button. If all went well, you should NOT see an apple logo, the screen should be dead. Keep holding home until windows/Mac informs you that it’s found new hardware, OR iTunes tells you that your iPhone is in recovery mode. Remember, screen should be blank.

If you see an apple logo, repeat the process for less time until you get it right. Took me a little time.

Another great tip for FireFox 3. You can have your FireFox 3 close the download manager after it finishes the downloads. It’s a small tweak in firefox 3 and it goes like this

1- Write about:config in your address bar.

2- Search for “browser.download.manager.closeWhenDone

3- Change it’s value by double clicking it from false to true.

It’s done. Now, whenever you have a download in firefox 3, the Download Manager will automatically close when the download(s) finishes.

Disable wordpress registrations - Another Wordpress Tip

Posted by MoiN 19 June, 2008 (0) Comment

Alright, couple of hours back, there was some strange activity going on this blog. There were 3 Spam Posts (I’m not sure how many confronted that) but as soon I saw them, I checked out the users and saw a anonymous person registered there who posted all that crap.

It did happen to me in the start but I didn’t pay any heave towards it. Anyway, that’s that.. I disabled wordpress registrations instantly and I would advice you guys (Wordpress bloggers) to do the same because I actually know a lot who haven’t disabled the registrations.

How to disable wordpress registrations:

Disable wordpress new users registrations is very easy.

Do you know that your wordpress themes can be copied easily? Yes, the horror. Anyone can download your theme (Even if you have paid for it) easily.. How? I actually don’t want to share that because it will exploit the bug. I did test it out though, and it was freakishly easy to get those themes.

Wordpress Theme

Don’t get me wrong but I’m not going to use any of those wordpress themes.. I only wanted to test if that can actually happen. Anyway, I would highly recommend that you follow these steps to protect your wordpress themes.
