Google released a new youtube speech recognition gadget which basically is focusing on the US Elections 2008 but I have a feeling that it’s going to be available for almost all the videos available on youtube in the near future.

With this new youtube gadget, you can “currently” find out what the candidates said, search through thousands of political videos uploaded on youtube by text.

With this new google gadget you now have the ability to search more specifically, using state-of-the-art Google speech-to-text technology.

When you search for a video and select one, you’ll see some yellow indicators in the video where your search “text” query matches and you can take your mouse over to to read the text.

If you want to check out google’s speech recognition gadget for youtube, you can add this gadget in your google homepage easily.

Posted by MoiN 30 May, 2008 (0) Comment

A brief demonstration at the Internet search leader’s annual developer conference in San Francisco represented the most extensive public look so far at “Android” - an open-source platform being designed for “smart” phones and other mobile devices that surf the Web. Android was first announced nearly seven months ago.

The bells and whistles unveiled Wednesday included: a way to unlock phones by drawing a specific shape on the touchscreen instead of entering a password; bookmarks for favorite Web sites on the device’s home page; a “compass” tool that automatically roams with the phone while a user looks at photographic images of a city map; a magnifying tool to zoom in on Web content; and a mobile version of the video game “Pac Man.”

Android is being developed by The Open Handset Alliance which consists for more than 30 Mobile and Technology companies.: the first complete, open, and free mobile platform. To help developers get started developing new applications, google is offering an early look at the Android Software Development Kit.Three part overview of the Android architecture and APIs

Google IMAP
Remember the problem caused Windows Mobile phone users to receive blank Gmail messages? Yes, that’s the one! Google finally fixed it! Google figured the problem and listed it on its known issues page.. Late last week, some users of Windows Mobile 6 and its predecessor, Windows Mobile 5, began writing on google help groups that the problem appeared to be fixed but google’s officials said that it was fixed on friday.

Yada yada, blah blah.. forget the past… Look forward to what happened.. it got fixed!! Good JoB! Google has also posted instructions for configuring the Gmail IMAP capability on Windows Mobile 6 phones.

Windows Mobile users don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the fix, the spokeswoman said. They should simply be able to properly receive Gmail messages on their phones now, she said.

Google’s reply to Wikipedia

Posted by MoiN 18 January, 2008 (0) Comment

Knol, google

Knol is a project planned by Google for user-generated articles on topics ranging from “scientific concepts, to medical information, from geographical and historical, to entertainment, from product information, to how-to-fix-it instructions.”

It is a experimental website that google is working on right now with a perception of giving the authors a edge. They are focusing more on individual authors, showing their other work / pictures etc unlike Wikipedia where anyone is free to revise the articles. Knol is on invite only right now but hopefully it will be open to public sooner or later after it’s released.
